Friday:
I went straight to the pet place when I left work to pick up Odie. He wasn't ready to be picked up. WTF?! He was there all day!! They quickly explained to me that they do the biggest dogs first and the smallest dogs last. (What the fuck?! They could have told me that! Odie only weighs 5 lbs. so that would make him dead last. They told Supa that I could pick him up between 5:30 and 5:45 so I was super pissed.) Since they said it was going to be another 40 minutes or so, I decided to go on home.
Supa made pot pies for dinner. We ate dinner and then ran to pick Odie up. They said he lost 6 teeth (either by pulling or falling out on their own). They said that his tongue wouldn't hang out of his mouth (yet) because he still had a few teeth in the front but not many. He was totally drunk and out of it when we picked him up. He sure as hell couldn't walk. He did look happy to see us, however. LOL.
They did a good job. His breath smells like...nothing....perfect!!
We took Odie home to take his medicine and rest. Copper was really happy to see him! :)
We decided to take the kids to Saluda Shoals (the local riverfront park) to see the huge light show they put on each year. We didn't make it last year due to Supa's insane schedule but we have taken the kids previous years and really wanted to go back.
It cost $10 per car to ride through as many times as you want to. (Totally worth it.) They have their own radio station that plays Christmas music while you ride and see the lights. They also have a few sections where the lights are shown dancing along to the beat of the Christmas song playing on the radio station. SO COOL!! We really enjoyed that part.
About mid-way through the park, you can get out of your car and partake in some additional activities (for a small fee per person of course). We heard there was an inner tube slide and we were going to be on the lookout for that awesomeness!
I did my very best with the picture taking. Supa even stopped the van a few places so I could get a decent shot.
It was drizzling when we first arrived. |
Almost all the light scenes moved.
There was an entire section designed to support the troops. |
We salute Aunt Darling with the Navy lights!! She's Navy retired now. :)
The photo does this no justice. |
The statue was huge!
The butterfly garden was my favorite part, of course! :) |
The kids ooed and aahhed a great deal over the peacock. It's tail lit up all different colors. |
Pretty!!!
They even put lights on the bridge! |
We found the inner tube slide first!
This was where the inner tube ride was. You can't see the actual tower or the inner tubes but Dazzle and Neon were just getting ready to slide down. |
Dazzle and Neon slid down in the same inner tube. (Doing everything together, as usual) Supa and I stood in line with them and met them at the bottom of the slide. It looked like so much fun and I'm pretty sure I heard Dazzle squeal like crazy on the way down. The slope was decorated in lights and they got to slide under lights too. I felt sorry for the guy that had to push start each inner tube down the hill. His job looked tough. LOL.
When we met the kids at the bottom, they were smiling their faces off and said that the slide was amazing and fast! Dazzle didn't want to go again but Dazzle did and I had an extra ticket.....I volunteered to go with Neon. :) It.Was.Amazing!! Best slide ever! I'm pretty sure I saw the guys spray the underneath side of our inner tube with WD-40. No wonder we went so fast!! I screamed and held onto Neon for dear life. What a blast.
When we finished riding the inner tubes, we were walking back towards the parking lot when we saw a hay ride that was just getting ready to start. We flagged them down and hopped right on!
A man driving a tractor, pulled us on the hay ride around the riverfront. We decided to get out at the stopping point, buy some hot chocolate and walk back to the van.
There was a little fire where you could roast marshmallows and warm up your hands. Cute. |
There were doors along the path that different schools and organizations made for the light show. They were so cool and they had doorknobs!! I didn't realize it at first but they were real doors. |
I really enjoyed the walk we got to take together. It was kind of creepy because it wasn't busy. It was just Supa, Dazzle, Neon and I. :) |
Another bridge for us to walk under this time!! SWEET! |
Supa, Dazzle and Neon were leading the way to the van. |
