Pretty Quiet, Yet Awesome

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  As usual, mine was fabulous but not nearly long enough.  Supa had to work all weekend which was a bummer but he's off today so he gets to catch up on his rest and cook us dinner!

Saturday morning, the kids and I slept in until we damn well felt like getting up (9ish...).  Once we ate breakfast and got ourselves ready, we took Copper and Odie to the pet place (the same one where we always visit the puppies and kittens) to get their rabies shots.

This may sound like a simple task but Copper HATES riding in the car.  We're not really sure why but it is such a hassle.  He gets all freaked out, nervous and acts a fool.  I have to PUT him in the truck and he screams like a banshee during the entire ride.  Odie on the other hand sits pretty on the seat and angles his nose towards the cracked window.  He LOVES to go for a ride.

I managed to get Copper secured in the backseat with Neon while Odie rode in the front seat with Dazzle.  We made it to the pet place and it was a struggle to get Copper to walk inside.  He wanted to stop and sniff every 2 inches.  Dazzle just carried little 5 lb. Odie and once we made it in the door, it didn't take us too long to fill out the paperwork and go into the back room.

They give the dogs their shot in their right hind leg.  Odie didn't even flinch or squirm one bit.  He's an old fella so he doesn't really care what you do with or to him.

Copper on the other hand struggled and fought me like a champion.  I had to put him in a headlock and hold him with all my strength.  It was out of control.  By the time he got his shot, I was covered in dog hair and sweating like a pig.  Wonderful.  At least it only cost us a total of $10.  I got Odie a collar since he has never worn one (with the exception of a flea collar) and he looks so handsome wearing his new tags.

While we were at the counter paying for the shots and collar, I was talking to Dazzle about how Odie was getting his teeth cleaned (finally) on Monday when the cashier informed me that they clean teeth there now.  I asked how much they charge, $175.

WHAT?!

The vet was going to charge us $350!!!  I would much rather pay half price and have the money go towards our favorite pet place!!  I made an appointment on the spot.  (I called this morning and cancelled the vet appointment)  SO, Odie will be having his teeth cleaned this Friday and I'm so glad the cashier mentioned it to me!!  WIN!

We took the dogs home and left again to run errands:

--Sally's for nail polish.  Santa also bought me a new pair of earrings.  :)

The red ones are the new ones.  I love them!
--Food Lion to stock up on meat

--Lowe's for yard supplies.  I bought the first wheelbarrow we have ever owned.  I also bought 2 rakes (nope, we didn't own rakes either) and a box of yard bags.  I was pretty proud of my yard equipment purchase since that's usually Supa's department.

--Subway for lunch

--Bilo for Christmas stamps

Once we finally returned home, we ate our lunch and then it was time to head outside.  We had a few leaves to rake.  LOL!
Since we have that huge tree in the front yard, we have TONS of leaves all over the place.

I'm having fun with this photo editing program.

The photo above was when we first started raking.  The weather was beautiful, about 72 degrees.
This is Neon and he said the pile was getting pretty big!

It took us about 2 hours but we finally had them all in the middle of the yard.

Let the jumping begin!

Dazzle and Neon are in that big pile of leaves above somewhere.  I had to let the kids jump in the leaves after we worked so hard to gather them!
Dazzle, Neon, where are you?!

Haha, I said, "Hide your faces!" so they sunk down and showed their gloved hands instead.

I think this one is going on the wall.  I told them to throw the leaves in the air and smile at the same time.  I got some really great photos!  (Even with my shitty camera!)

After we raked the leaves all together and the kids jumped in them for a while, we put them in lawn bags (6 huge ones total) and went into the house to collapse.  My arms were on fire from all the raking.  The kids took turns raking and filling the wheelbarrow.  If I didn't have their help, I don't think I could have finished.  I was surprised but it was really fun!  (The kids even said they had fun)  I know we'll be raking together again in the future.  :)

The kids took showers and watched some TV while I took a little nap.  Dazzle woke me up (way sooner than I hoped she would) and said I needed to get up and get ready for my hot date ;)

Dazzle has been practicing her cooking skills at home and in Home Economics class at school.  She made macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs in it for dinner while I took a shower.  Neon ran back and forth from my bathroom to the kitchen when she had a question to ask me and he even got the laundry folded for me in between trips.

I got ready and when Supa came home, he took me to Best Buy so that we could buy ourselves something for Christmas.

Sound bar & sub woofer.
We have this big, beautiful TV but you can't hear a damn thing!  The speakers suck so we have been wanting to get something to boost our sound.  We had fun looking at all the different options together.  This system won because it was on sale and it's the same brand as our TV.  Of course, I had to wander over and check out the DVDs.  I ended up buying Bull Durham (I've never seen it before but I know it's about baseball) for my collection and I also bought Paranorman for the kids for Christmas.
I bought this one because it was one of my Grama's favorite movies so I need to see what was awesome about it.  I remember she had it on VHS.

This one is new and even Supa and I want to see it.

When we were finished shopping, Supa took me out to eat dinner at Applebees.  Our food was okay, not great but not terrible either.  The waitress was very standoffish and unfriendly.  Our last trip to Applebees (many years ago) was a huge disappointment so this was their one more chance to impress us.  We didn't really think the crappy service and just OK food was worth the money it cost us.  We were not overly impressed and probably won't go back.  However, we did have a great time talking, holding hands over the table and laughing our butts off.  :)

After Supa hooked up the new stereo equipment and we tried it out (fucking amazing and huge difference in sound) we had some cheesecake for our date dessert.
YUM!!!!
Sunday, the kids and I decided to stick close to the house and relax a bit.  We did bake 65 lemon cookies and 67 butter cookies as part of our Christmas baking.

They turned out perfectly soft and delicious.
We spent the afternoon ordering pictures (well, I did this anyways), downloading music, painting fingernails and we watched a movie together.  (Buffy The Vampire Slayer - the one with Luke Perry in it)  The kids loved the movie and I got to take a teeny tiny nap on the couch.  We went to the dumpster but didn't find any coupons (BOO-HISS!).

Before I knew it, Supa was home (YAY!) and we got to catch up on episodes of Survivor until we both fell asleep on the couch together.

Happy Monday!!
