Only Time For A Quickie

And, I don't mean the fun kind - get your head out of the gutter, Lolly and everyone else.  I'm at work!  LMAO!

Work is still very busy.  Maybe it's everyone being gone/out/whatever or everyone being slackers...I'm not sure.  What I am sure of is that this blogging at work thing is getting harder and harder (some days) but I won't give up!  I'm going to type as much as possible today and we'll see how much we get......

Saturday morning Aunt Darling and Grampa Darling were at our favorite breakfast place, Blues, in my hometown.  I know I've shown some examples of the food before when we were on vacation, check here for some of that goodness.  They had some amazing, huge cinnamon rolls that would rock your breakfast world but apparently, they ran out (for a long time) and now....They're Baaack!  Aunt Darling was so happy, she sent me a picture.
I'm sure the other half (not pictured here) went into Grampa Darling's tummy!  :)  YUM!!!

While they were at Blues enjoying their cinnamon rolls and coffee, I was at the hair salon with Neon (and Dazzle) so Neon could get his hair cut.  He grew it out all summer and it was LONG like a shaggy dog!  He was finally sick of it and said he was READY to get a hair cut.  I wish I could post the before and after pics but I just don't have time to edit the faces out of them today....He looks really cute manly and handsome.  He would kill me if he knew I used the word "cute".

Dazzle and I sat in the waiting room and caught up on some reading (ahhh, that was so relaxing). Supa stayed home (yep, he was off!) and played video games.  He needed some relaxation time too!

We ran by Food Lion to pick up a couple of things and then went back home.  I changed my clothes as soon as we got there so I could cut the grass.  I wanted to get it over with so I wouldn't have to cut it later.  It was hot as shit and I mowed as fast as possible (it still took me over an hour).  Then I had to swallow a sandwich whole and take a quick shower so I could get Supa and I to our eye doctor appointments on time.

I think it was quite an experience for Supa to go to the eye doctor for the first time at the age of 36.  He actually looked interested and like he might be having a fun time.  LOL.

The end result: he has almost perfect vision.  What he thought but we needed to be sure.  He also said he doesn't have any of the yucky eye diseases or anything else that we needed to worry about.  The doctor did give him a prescription for what we would call "reading glasses".  He doesn't need them to see but could use them as an aid to make his vision even better during reading and computer work but not really necessary.  We held onto the prescription but won't get it filled unless Supa decides he needs it.  He will need glasses one day when he gets older but not yet....Good news!

Of course my vision got slightly worse and I got a new script for another year of contacts and eye glasses (I needed to update my lenses really bad).  I'm going to wait until one of my kids can pay for my Lasik eye surgery and then I will give up my contacts.  I think that's a reasonable thing to ask for since I gave birth to both of them.  ;0   Sounds like a great birthday gift to me one birthday in the future when they are both doctors, lawyers, whatever!!

After our appointment, we went shopping to get a few things we needed: bike helmet, bike water bottle (yes, I NEEDED things for my new bike!) and other food items.  We headed home afterwards and got started with some food prep.  We decided to have our Labor Day meal that night so I had some things to get ready.

After food prep time, I went out for a bike ride (yes, double exercise for the day will do the body good!).  I needed to blow off some steam A*K*A marital irritation so that was just what the doctor ordered.  I had a blast, sweat my ass off and had my thoughts properly gathered by the time I got back to the house.

I helped Supa finish up dinner and we sat down to eat!!
We had bi-colored corn on the cob from the Pubdizzle and it was delish!!!

Supa made hand patted turkey burgers (YUM!) and I made coleslaw.  I also made baked beans for the first time ever.  The last time we went to Red's house, Dazzle and I tried her baked beans and realized they were delicious!  (I have never liked baked beans my entire life but Red made me a believer!)  I asked Aunt Darling for our family baked bean recipe and she emailed me hers.  I took her recipe and tweaked it to what we like at our house and let me tell you, they turned out delicious.  I was really proud of myself!  AND I made the beans in my Grama's baked bean oven dish.  I sat beside that dish at the dining room table my whole life.  I'm proud to have it at my house now AND be able to make beans in it!  :)  Ahhh, the simple things in life.
I loved how they turned out and apparently, everyone else did too because we didn't have very many leftover!

It was a yummy meal and a good time.  Happy Labor Day!

Sunday, the kids and I watched TV all day long!  We took that DVR from 49% full to 11% in one day!  Supa worked all day.  I ran to the dumpster to check for coupons.  Again, fucking nothing.  I went for a bike ride to get my exercise in and we had wraps for dinner.  Nothing too exciting.

Monday, all four of us were home. I left early to go shopping with Jade.  Goodwill had a 1/2 off the entire store sale so we went looking for clothes.  After 3 hours and many trips into the dressing room, I left with 2 huge bags of clothes for everyone.  $55 bought a BUNCH of stuff and I was really excited about our finds.  Jade got a pretty big bag of stuff for her crew too so we left pretty happy.

After we worked up quite an appetite with all our retail therapy, we went to my favorite place, Hibachi Express to have some fast food Japanese for lunch.  We sat, talked, ate, rested and enjoyed each other's company before we headed to the house.  Once I got home, I laid down for a little bit to watch more TV and wait for the new clothes to finish washing and drying.  I took another bike ride and Supa made pork chops, cous cous and green beans for dinner.  YUMMY!

It was a great long weekend and before I knew it, I was back at work on Tuesday, busy as fuck all over again!

I'm going to do my best to blog tomorrow but I can't make any promises!  I'll try to squeeze it in between talking to people.

PS, I just applied for a new position at work too!  I'll talk more about that soon.....

Love,

Apple
