**WARNING- If you have a queasy stomach or can't deal with people talking about poop and blood, skip this post. I wouldn't want to make you lose your lunch**
Monday morning, he woke up with a bad tummy ache. He went to work anyway and had severe diarrhea all day long at work. (Not the first time he's pooped all day long so I wasn't too concerned) I knew he didn't have food poisoning since we all ate the same things on Sunday and we weren't sick. He said he felt weak and feverish so I figured he had a virus.
He came home on Monday and went straight to bed, trying to sleep/sweat off the sickness. Tuesday morning, he woke up just as sick as before. He called out sick to work. This was the first time I was really alerted that he was super sick. He just doesn't miss work.
The fever continued, the pooping continued and by the time I got home from work, he still wasn't feeling any better. (that told me it wasn't a 24 hour bug...)
He said he was going to try to get up on Wednesday morning and go to work anyway. He was hoping that he was going to feel much better....
**During these days of sickness, I still thought he might have a flu or virus so I was keeping him locked away in our bedroom/bathroom and I had been sleeping with the kids and staying in the other end of the house. I did not want the kids or myself to get whatever it was that he had. I was spraying Lysol like mad crazy all over the house and everything that Supa touched.**

My bff when people get sick. |
I got up Wednesday morning to take Neon to school and Supa informed me that he still had a fever, still was pooping black liquid and now his butt was bleeding and he needed me to drive him to the doctor. UH, WHAT?! Okay, at that point, I was officially worried. The man never goes to the doctor and surely never asks for someone to DRIVE him to the doctor. It was time to find out what the fuck was going on with my husband.
After I took both the kids to school and ordered Supa into the shower (Yeah, I sure did! He was starting to stink!) I got on the phone and called the doctors office to make an appointment.
Me: Yes, I wanted to see if the doctor could see my husband today. He is very, very sick and needs to be seen ASAP.
Nurse: Sorry, we're booked for the entire day.
Me: WHAT?! Are you serious? He needs to see a doctor today! He's super sick and he's starting to scare me!!
Nurse: I'm so sorry.
Me: Okay, so where am I supposed to take him if his doctor can't see him!?
Nurse: Um, the ER....
Me: WHAT?! <click>
I was so pissed! People that cut their finger off go to the ER. People that are having a heart attack go to the ER. People that were shot during gang warfare go to the ER. Not people with some really fucked up stomach flu! Think, think, think.....OKAY! I remembered I could take him to Doctor's Care. Check that out here if you don't have one in your area or you don't know what it is. They are handy to have around!!
I got Supa in the truck and took him straight to Doctor's Care. We didn't have to wait too terribly long and we only had to pay our $20 copay with our insurance. The doctor listened to his symptoms, felt around on his belly, took a blood sample and went to figure out what the fuck was wrong with my husband. We sat in the examination room for a great little while (I caught up on my reading) and when the doctor finally came in, we were really ready to hear what he had to say....
He had a polyp in his intestine and one outside of his intestine. The one outside burst. Which was causing the terrible stomach ache and black diarrhea poops. The bacteria floating around in there was also causing an ulcer to form. He would need to take an antibiotic and a steroid to get all of this back under control. He would need to then wait for 4 weeks and then start another round of a different antibiotic. He will need to return to the doctor in 6 weeks to make sure that everything is back to normal. He would not start feeling back to normal for 2-3 days and couldn't go back to work until Monday (whew, long time for Supa to be out of work!). The bacteria that has formed in his tummy is also creating an ulcer.
(MORE WORRIES?! GREAT?!)
Since his Dad died at the age of 50 (of many things) and had colon cancer, he would need to get a colonoscopy done so that they can look for other polyps and make sure that if there are any, they aren't full of cancer. The nurse assured me that they would call me to make that appointment very soon so that we can rest easily that he doesn't have any cancer floating around in there. WTF?!
It was a long couple of hours in the doctor's office. Supa was almost dehydrated and definitely needed to eat a real meal since he was scared to eat for the past couple of days. I went and got him some food, made sure he ate it, gave him his meds and ran out to do some errands. After I ran to Bilo & Publix and filled up my gas tank, I went back home and got on the treadmill. I wanted to get my exercise out of the way while Supa was resting, before the kids got home from school and before I had to start cooking dinner. (I don't understand how single Mom's get everything done. It's so hard with no help!)
Overall, it was a crazy day and I felt like I needed to come to work today to get a day of rest! LMAO!!
I have to believe that Supa is going to be fine. I have to. If I take the "C" word too seriously or starting thinking that he's going to get really sick, I will flip out. Intensely. No one needs to deal with me flipping out right now. I'm going to get him well right now and get this bacteria under control so he can stop having serious pain in his stomach and then we're going to worry about the colonoscopy results when we get to that road. Nothing I can do now will change what the test says so I'm going to enjoy my husband and family and worry about that when the time comes.
Gotta go. Hopefully I will be able to blog tomorrow. I have some other less pressing things to say.....
